Thomas J. Stanford has been a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Civil Mediator since 1998. During that time, he has mediated over 8,000 cases as a mediator for the State of Florida Division of Workers' Compensation and as a private mediator. Mr. Stanford has extensive experience mediating Workers’ Compensation, Longshore, Defense Base Act, Employment Discrimination, Retaliatory Discharge, Wage and Hour claims, Equitable Distribution/ Lien disputes, Multi-party disputes, Disputes between carriers, Personal Injury and other Civil actions throughout Florida and the United States with a primary practice in Southeastern Florida although he is available for mediations throughout Florida by videoconferencing or conference calls. His knowledge of the law, calm demeanor, perseverance and insight allow him to consistently achieve resolution of cases with equitable results for all parties.
Mr. Stanford was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1991, and was admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida in 1992. He began his law practice as an insurance defense attorney with the law firm of Sellars, Supran, Cole, Marion and Espy, P.A.. handling commercial litigation and personal injury cases through trial and appellate levels. With the law firm of Reid, Ricca and Rigell, P. A. , Mr. Stanford specialized in Workers' Compensation law representing employers and carriers as well as injured workers.
Thomas J. Stanford graduated from Clemson University with honors in 1985, with a degree in Finance. He worked as a commercial loan analyst prior to attending Stetson University College of Law, where he graduated with honors in 1991.
He is married with two children and enjoys surfing, freediving, mountain biking and skiing/snowboarding in his free time.
